Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is most often needed for the relief of pain. Root Canal treatment is required when the nerve of the tooth becomes inflamed. This may be caused by many things such as tooth decay, a deep filling, trauma, tooth fracture, or infection.
Root Canal treatment is done over two dental appointments. During the first appointment, the tooth is opened, the nerves are removed and cleaned, then medication is placed inside the canals. A temporary filling is then placed on top of the tooth until the next appointment.
One week to two weeks later during the second appointment, the tooth is opened up again, cleaned, and filled with a special sealer inside the canals. A permanent filling is then placed on the tooth and the root canal is then complete.
